ARIZONA INFORMATION
Esta pagina tem por finalidade porvidenciar algumas informacoes sobre Arizona, o estado onde nasci. Aproveitando o espaco, estou colocando aqui um material historico sobre Maricopa Wells e as montanhas Estrellas.
This part of site is to give Brazilians some idea about Arizona. Also I might as well make a confesson: John A. is the World's Geatest Expert on the history and geography of Maricopa Wells and the Estrella Mountains. Of course, I am also probably the only expert. I have copies of over 250 early documents relating to this region. Some of those may be found here.
NOTE (July, 2000): I have decided to make this an Estrella Mountain page.... It started off as an Arizona page for Portuguese speaking people, but somehow ended up as a section dedicated to the Sierra Estrella Mountains in the Phoenix area.

THE PATIO AREA - The most historic location
At the Southeastern tip of the range, under Montezuma's Head, is the Patio Area. This is where travellers have stopped and rested for hundreds of years, leaving their markings on the rocks. Unfortunately, time and people have not been good to the petroglyphs of the Patio Area. |
The MINE 2000 - Visit to the Mine on Thanksgiving 2000
Yes, the Old House is still there. Basically we went to explore the extent of the currals and walls in the lower canyon. Didn't find the dates in the rock seen when a kid 40 years ago. |
CHARTS: The Changing Face of the Region.
How explorers saw the area. Evolution of charts of Maricopa Wells area and the Sierra Estrella region, from 1600s to early 1900s. BIG mistakes were made. |
Treasures of the Estrellas...
Yes! Gold mines, explorers, prospectors, UFOs, buried gold - and also real stuff: locations of petroglyphs, plane crash sites, massacre sites and other points of interest... |
