Letters and Emails I receive, and standard answers
I get 3 or 4 emails a day (or about 20 a week), not including 100 junk spam emails. Many people ask the same questions, so here are the usual answers.
Love and travel
I really liked your site. I love reading and learning about Brasil. I was in Brazil this winter visiting my sister and while I was there I fell in love. I've been doing everything possible to get him here. I got him into a school so he trying to come up on a student visa (I20). Next week he has his interview at the American embassy in Sao Paulo. I was wondering if you had any advice or words of wisdom to share that would be helpful. I would appreciate any information that you might know. Thank you for your time and keep up the good work.
It is not easy, particularly for young people (age 18-30) to get visas. The best way is to travel in a family group. If a person is young and unmarried, they will want to know about his/her job and any assets he/she may have. Never use the word "love" in an interview! Unfortunately "love" is not in the US State department's vocabulary. Let me know how this works out.

Looking for...
Hello, I have been looking to find the films of glauder rocha, espeacially, "antonio of the deaths", 1968. I would like this for my own personal collection. I have looked for a long time with no luck. can you help me obtain this.
please contact me with any information you may have in regards to this request.
I really appreciate your time.
I really don't have time to look for people and things in Brazil. The best resource is the Internet. If it is for sale, it is either on the Internet, or will be one day. John

Brazilian money...
I have 35- 100,000 Brazilian Cruzieros notes, 1- 5000 note, 2- 500 notes, and 1 - 200 note- is there any value to any of these or should I just throw them away- I would sure hate to think that there are countries unwilling to honor their own printed currency- I am interested in finding who if anyone would buy these from me, and I am also wondering if it would do any good to contact a Brazilian bank telling them what I have, and asking them to honor their notes- Any assistance that you could give me on this would be appreciated. Jeff
I have good news and bad news. The good news is that your ... Well, I don't know any good news, but the bad news is that those 100,000 cruzeiros notes are worth about 0.00003 cents each, if they could be used. Actually there were two "cruzeiros" currencies, one up to the 1960s and a later one (or two) after they made a 1000 to 1 conversion, which was done about 5 times or so since 1960. So, the money has no monetary value. Such is hyper-inflation. I think I will write a page on this. Good idea. Sorry. However, you may be able to sell them on Ebay. I always see cruzeiro notes for sale for a few bucks. Good luck! John
